Center Philosophy: Located in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area the Center is dedicated to a team approach to life problems, utilizing cognitive-behavior therapy and recognizing mind-body interactions. The Center also provides parenting coordination services, developing strategies to meet the best interests of children. The professionals are committed to short-term, targeted goals which are developed with your participation. Day, evening, and Saturday appointments are available. We primarily specialize in relationships, trauma, anxiety and depression.

Veronica Ashwal, LMHC, MBA

Director & Owner
Veronica Ashwal is a licensed mental health counselor who enjoys working with children adolescents and adults. She tailors her approaches to your unique goals, blending cognitive behavior and solution focused techniques. She has concentrated her clinical experience to working with individuals for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma. Additionally, Veronica conducts therapy in both Spanish and English. Veronica also works with children and families with innovative play therapy techniques. Her background working as a principal for behaviorally challenged students adds to her clinical insights with children. Veronica is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for patients. Priscilla Marotta, Ph.D

Dr. Marotta has been nationally recognized as a cognitive-behavior therapy specialist. In 2013, Dr. Marotta was selected to be one of the 100 Most Oustanding Woman in Broward County relecting her strong commitment to patient quality care. She is a featured columnist for the Miami-Herald, quoted in Glamour Magazine, USA Today, Marie Claire and other national magazines, a featured television guest, author, and keynote speaker. Ali Butters, LMHC

Ali Butters is a licensed mental health counselor with over 12 years experience.  Her previous work includes working in many different capacities at The Renfrew Center as well as private practice.  Ali has worked with adults, adolescents, families, and couples.  Her areas of specialty include eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, and depression.  Ali integrates several therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help create a solution focused experience for both patients and their families. Visit Ali’s Page.

Ziva Avramovich, LCSW


Ziva is an experienced licensed clinical social worker who works with individuals, couples, and families in different stages of life. Ziva works with couples that are struggling with relationship issues and those that want to enhance their relationships. In addition, Ziva specializes in parental guidance, divorce issues, loss, and grief. She also understands the unique challenges of aging in today’s society, and works with seniors and caregivers. Ziva will create a special therapeutic and safe environment that will enable you to go through a healing process. Using tools like the ‘healing dialog’ that will help you get to the roots of your difficulties, and learn new coping strategies that will change your relationship, solve problems, and help you grow to have intimacy and joy in your life. Idelle Newburge, LMHC, NCC

Idelle Newburge is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a National Certified Counselor who has been in private practice in Plantation, Florida for over 25 years. She is on the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Southeast Florida. Idelle also serves as a trainer and advisor for their Listen to Children Program. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, depression, stress and dually diagnosed disorders. To assist her patients in their handling of life’s challenges, she utilizes multiple therapeutic techniques, including hypnotherapy for childbirth! Idelle helps her patients  identify and explore their feelings, thoughts and behaviors so that they can learn to solve their problems. Leanna Kobrin, LMHC

Leanna Kobrin is a licensed mental health counselor with over 10 years of experience. Her previous experience includes the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. Her eating disorder experience includes helping the families of those struggling with eating disorders. Leanna has worked as a forensic interviewer for the Child Protection Team, assisting child victims of sexual abuse. Her additional specialties include: postpartum depression, coping with pregnancy, anxiety, depression, and creating life balance. Leanna is a creative cognitive-behavior therapist who utilizes a range of clinical interventions. She feels the therapeutic relationship is the key to therapeutic productivity. Patti Baris, LCSW

Patti Baris received her Bachelors of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and her Masters of Social Work degree at Barry University in Miami, Florida. Patti is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides therapy in both Spanish and English. Patti utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat children, adolescents and adults. In addition, Patti has extensive training in Play Therapy and Developmental Play Therapy that she integrates with all ages. Patti specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting and life transitions. Patti has provided outpatient clinical services and case management in schools, behavioral health agencies, assisted living facilities and hospitals in both Broward and Palm Beach County. Debra Futterman, LCSW

Debra has over 19 years in the field of behavioral health.  Debra is a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work degree from Florida International University and is a Florida State Approved Supervisor for licensure. Debra’s vast experience has spanned working with children and adults in various settings including community mental health, the judicial court system, private for-profit and corporate organizations with a specialized focus in crisis intervention and stabilization, individual, and family counseling. In addition, Debra is a Florida Supreme Court Family and County Court Mediator.  Debra specializes in life coaching, stress management, and caregiver support.  She also works with depression, family issues, and trauma utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy. Visit Debra’s Page
